These two managed to stuff all the elegance and alcohol of a huge ballroom wedding into their small backyard. I got good vibes from Nora and Johnny from the start — Nora works in education and Johnny has a band. They both have big Mexican families, and there was no doubt that this party would be one for the books. Nora insisted that her whole family was “awkward with photos,” but after a quick introduction to us and our documentary approach, everyone relaxed around our cameras and we captured lots of good moments. Stoic faces melted into big grins, I spoke Spanish (and Spanglish) frequently, and the liquor was ever-flowing. Here’s to Nora and Johnny — salud!
